Offer food to kids as colors rather than flavors!
Eureka! Offer food to kids as colors rather than flavors! Noshi Food Paint was born. Within ten minutes of us sitting down and thinking about what it should be, we had it all set: Different-colored fruit and vegetable puree presented to kids in small tubes that they could use themselves (responsibility!) The rainbow flavors (*cough, I mean colors) would be strawberry, carrot, peach, pea, blueberry and beet.
Healthy food paint?
It would be organic, vegan and gluten-free, with no added colors, no processed sugar, no salt, no preservatives and no artificial flavors. It wouldn't need them because it would be (and is) delicious!
And so here we are, six years later, and Food Paint is a thing. Currently available from Walmart, Thrive Market, Fresh Direct and via our own website, it's real. So far we've launched the three fruit flavors, aimed at kids aged 4 to 10, with the veggie flavors coming to the baby food aisle in 2021.
Bottom line: Kids LOVE the stuff
It's been a long, crazy, EXHAUSTING journey and I probably wouldn't have even started if I'd known what it was going to involve, but I didn't. I didn't know so I wasn't scared so I just went off and did it. And kids LOVE the stuff. They actually tend to get the idea way faster than their parents" "You're going to let me use this myself?!" "I can squirt it on my pancakes?" "I can DRAW with it??!" "And it's YUMMY??!" It's a no-brainer.
And my kids? They're doing fine. And whenever we speak to their friends over zoom, I get the same request, something along the lines of "We miss you and we can't wait to see you again. So you can give us some more Food Paint"?
